Sherlock and Doctor Who both debuted new trailers for upcoming episodes at Comic-Con on Thursday.
After releasing a brand new teaser photo of the upcoming Sherlock Christmas special prior to their Comic-Con panel, creator Steven Moffat brought a sneak peek of the episode, showing Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) returning to 221b Baker’s Street after a case. The clip shows just how the usually modern Sherlock world has been transformed into Victorian times for the special, including a horse and carriage and an impressive smoking pipe.
Meanwhile, at the Doctor Who panel, Peter Capaldi surprised fans with the first trailer for the sci-fi show’s upcoming ninth season.
Perhaps the most buzzed about moment in the 90-second clip comes at the very end, when Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones appears in the trailer. Williams is one of the most highly anticipated guest stars of the upcoming season, but little was known of her character until now. Based on the short clip, it seems clear that Williams’ character has a history with the Doctor that will be explored in the episode.
