No. 10: LeBron James ($86 million)
The 32-year-old Cleveland Cavaliers forward helped lead the team to the 2016 NBA title, the city’s first major sports championship in 52 years.
James, a four-time MVP, re-signed after the win for three more years in a deal worth $100 million. His $31 million salary in 2016-17 made him only the third NBA player to earn $30 million in a season after Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant. It is the first time he’s held the NBA’s top salary during his 14-year career.
His sponsors (which comprise $55 million of his salary) include Beats Electronics, Kia Motors, Coca-Cola, Intel and Verizon. James and his business manager Maverick Carter own a production company, SpringHill Entertainment, and are also members of an investment group in Blaze Pizza.
James is married and has three children.
