Rock star Tom Petty died on Monday after he was rushed to the hospital Sunday. after going into cardiac arrest and is on life support, according to several reports. He was 66.
Petty was placed on life support at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital.
The “Free Fallin’” singer was found unconscious and not breathing in his home in Malibu.
Petty — a Florida native and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer known for several hits with his band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers — recently finished a long North American tour that ended at the Hollywood Bowl late last Monday. The tour served to commemorate the nearly 40th anniversary of his band, whose most famous songs are “I Won’t Back Down,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream” and “American Girl.”
