Grace Jabbari, who leveled allegations that actor Jonathan Majors assaulted her on March 25, was arrested under suspicion of misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor criminal mischief.
Jabbari was arrested on Wednesday at the 10th precinct in Manhattan and was released on desk appearance. The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has said that Jabbari will not be prosecuted or charged with anything related to the incident.
On Thursday, a spokesperson for the D.A. announced: “The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has officially declined to prosecute the case against Grace Jabbari because it lacks prosecutorial merit. The matter is now closed and sealed.”
After a 911 call from a 30-year-old woman, police arrested Majors on March 25 for domestic violence, which he faces misdemeanor charges of harassment and assault. The police noted that the woman had sustained minor injuries and Majors was released from police custody later that day.
Majors filed a complaint against Jabbari in June, which alleged that she had attacked him that night. His attorney has denied all wrongdoing on behalf of her client.
According to court documents from Majors’ case, prosecutors informed the police that they would not pursue charges against Jabbari, citing the delayed timing of the allegations. The move aligns with the standard procedure when assessing cross-complaints in domestic violence cases. This decision was communicated to Jabbari and her attorney on September 21.
The documents show that prosecutors also asked the NYPD to issue Jabbari a desk appearance ticket, which requires her to return to court at a specified date instead of waiting for arraignment in custody.
The prosecution planned to provide Jabbari, a British citizen, travel and lodging expenses to the U.S. to testify at Majors’ trial.
On Wednesday, Majors’ trial date was set for November 29.
