Woman Dies Riding Roller Coaster At Texas Six Flags

A woman died after falling from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Texas on Friday. No foul play appears to have been involved.

After the tragic incident transpired, park medical staff and local paramedics rushed to the Texas Giant roller coaster, reported CNN. The ride has since been closed indefinitely, as the investigation into the woman’s death continues.

"Me and my girlfriend were at the gates and the next ones to get on the ride … the cars came in and there was a man and a woman in the front," park visitor Gabe Flores said. "The man was saying, 'Let me out, let me out, my mom fell off. There's a turn that's pretty steep, and the person behind her empty seat said she fell out there — just flew out.” Flores had been next in line to get on the ride.

Another park visitor, Carmen Brown, saw the devastating accident unfold, and even claims that prior to the ride, she witnessed the woman tell park staff that her seat seemed insecure. "He was basically nonchalant," Brown told CNN. "He was, like, 'As long as you heard it click, you're fine.' Hers was the only one that went down once, and she didn't feel safe. But they let her still get on the ride."

"She goes up like this," Brown recalled "Then when it drops to come down, that's when it released and she just tumbled."

The official cause of the woman’s death has yet to be determined, according to Six Flags Over Texas spokesperson Sharon Parker. "It would be a disservice to the family to speculate regarding what transpired," she said. "When we have new information to provide, we will do so."
