Will Kendrick Lamar Perform “Not Like Us” At The Super Bowl? NFL & Fox Uncertain If They Want To Risk Defamation Lawsuit By Drake

As the Super Bowl approaches on Sunday, there has been wild speculation online about the content of rapper Kendrick Lamar’s half-time performance.

Lamar has long been in an extremely public feud with Drake, and until this year, both rappers received relatively the same level of support from their fans.

In May, Lamar released his diss track “Not Like Us,” which quickly shot to the top of the charts, not just for its sound appeal but also its provocative accusations alleging Drake is a child molester. In particular, Lamar’s catch-lyric (addressed to Drake), “Trying to strike a chord and it’s probably A minor,” received much attention and quickly became the song’s signature line. It has been widely agreed that Lamar has won the rap feud against Drake, and many of Drake’s fans have switched their alignment.

At the 2025 Grammys, Lamar was awarded five Grammys for “Not Like Us.” His victory saw the event’s audience loudly chanting the diss-track’s signature lyric.

After Lamar’s diss track was officially recognized by the awards show, many fans have questioned whether or not Lamar will choose to perform the hit song on Sunday.

“Not Like Us” is currently the subject of a defamation lawsuit from Drake. Even if the song is altered, the NFL and Fox could still face a defamation lawsuit. Drake has already accused Universal Music Group of defamation.

On Thursday, Lamar told his fans that “storytelling” should be expected during his half-time show.

He said, “I think I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalog and my history of music,” and continued, “And I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on, whether it’s a world tour or whether it’s 500 people at Key Club, I’ve always had a form of that. So I like to always carry on that sense of, make people listen, but also see and think a little.”

Lamar will be the first solo rap artist to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. He will be joined by Grammy-award-winning artist SZA, who will also follow him on tour over the summer.
