Whoopi Goldberg Apologizes For Using Offensive Slur On ‘The View’

Whoopi Goldberg has apologized after using a Romani slur on Wednesday’s episode of The View.

The incident occurred during a conversation about the 2020 presidential election where she said, “The people who still believe that he got, you know, gy—d somehow in the election, will still believe that he cared enough about his wife to pay the… money from his personal thing.”

Goldberg later expressed her regret, explaining that it was a word she heard growing up. “I should have thought about it a little longer before I said it, but I didn’t, and I should have said ‘cheated,’ and I used another word, and I’m really, really sorry,” Goldberg said.

One user said, “Well, I learned something today! Thanks for this teaching moment. I won’t say this in the future!”

This isn’t the first time The View co-host has had to apologize for saying something controversial on the show. In January 2022, she said the Holocaust was “not about race.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Goldberg doubled down after receiving backlash and a suspension from the show.

Later she apologized for her comments, recognizing that the Holocaust was about race and saying, “In this time of rising antisemitism, I want to be very clear when I say that I always stood with the Jewish people and always will.”
