Jeremy Bieber, Justin Bieber’s father, has been at the center of the media storm surrounding Justin’s arrest Thursday, Jan. 23, after it was reported that he was with his son that night.

After Justin was arrested on suspicion DUI and drag racing, it was reported that his father, Jeremy, had been present and was, in fact, in the van that was blocking off the road to facilitate Justin’s race. Jeremy, 38, was not arrested, and bailed his son out of jail. He continued to stay by his son’s side in Miami.

Justin Bieber Is Close With His Father

While Justin’s mother, Patti Mallette, has been a public figure ever since Justin hit stardom – she has even written a best-selling memoir about her struggles raising Justin as a teen mother (she had him when she was 18-years-old) – Jeremy remains somewhat of a mystery.

After Justin was born, Patti and Jeremy broke up when he was still a baby and Patti raised Justin mostly by herself with the help of her parents. However, now the father-son duo appears closer than ever. They are often photographed together, caught wearing similar outfits, and Justin speaks often about his half-siblings, Jeremy’s young children, Jazmyn, 4, and Jaxon, 3.

“We have a better relationship now than ever. He just got off tour and brought the littles with him… It’s great that my dad has grown up a lot and my mom has grown up a lot and they’re such good parents now,” Justin said in an interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter.

Justin has also said that his father introduced him to classic rock and taught him how to play Bob Dylan songs on the guitar.

Jeremy frequently goes on trips with his son, sometimes bringing his children along. In October of 2013, Justin bought his father and his siblings a house in Canada for a reported $850,000.

Jeremy Bieber Defends His Son On Twitter

Since the arrest, many have been speculating as to whether or not Jeremy is a bad influence on his son. Jeremy and Justin were spotted partying at a nightclub hours before the arrest and his alleged presence at the time of the arrest has raised eyebrows.

Jeremy has been quite active on Twitter since the incident, first sending out his love to his children and then defending them against the media.

Jeremy recently took to Twitter to defend himself against allegations of bad parenting, telling his followers to worry about themselves before judging him.

Patti, meanwhile, has maintained her silence since Justin’s arrest and Justin’s longtime manager, Scooter Braun, addressed the issue with a vague Tweet.

Reports suggest that Braun has been encouraging Justin to go to rehab and get help, and even had a private jet waiting in Miami to take Justin back home to Los Angeles. According to the report, Justin has refused all of Braun’s help and did not get on the plane.
