George Michael, 48, the former singer of “I Want Your Sex,” “Freedom” and “Faith,” revealed that he was gay almost fifteen years ago, and now Michael has been enjoying some quality time out with his boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz, 38, after recovering from a serious battle with pneumonia late last year and into the early part of this one.
Fawaz, a Lebanese celebrity hairstylist and male model who has worked on the stylings of such celebs as Naomi Campbell, Katherine Jenkins, Emily Blunt, and the Pussycat Dolls, met Michael before his bout with pneumonia and was by his side the entire time.
As Michael was recovering, Fawaz kept the press apprised of Michael’s condition, revealing in early December of 2011 that Michael was improving “by the hour.” Michael was weak and drawn when he was finally released from the hospital just a few days before Christmas, but by mid-February, he seemed to be fully recovered and was taking vacations with Fawaz. Both Michael and Fawaz were keeping their Twitter followers up-to-date on their romantic getaways.
“Hey everyone,” Michael wrote on Twitter from after boating in the Maldives. “I’m on the first real holiday I’ve had in many a year…sipping a cocktail on a balmy night, listening to the sea … People, I’m excited….just finishing a ballad that I think is going to make you think my eighties self has been re-born ! …Which I suppose it has in a way 🙂 Even my tracheostomy scar is healing nicely in the sun, was looking a bit Bride of Chucky for a while. Spoke to doctors before I came away and they told me my recovery is way quicker than can usually be expected so I’m happy as Larry… Sun, sand, and a bit of this doesn’t hurt either 🙂 !!!” With the Tweet he posted a pic of him with his arms around Fawaz.
Fawaz took to Twitter himself just a week later, posting a pic of him and Michael, again out on a boat in the Sydney Harbor, reading, “Isn’t he cute?”
Michael recently revealed that his brush with death left him having to learn how to walk again after his muscles had atrophied from the five-week illness. He also has no memory of the entire five weeks that doctors were fighting to save his life.
