Following the tragic death of pop music legend Whitney Houston, 48, investigators are in the process of obtaining the singer's medical records and questioning her doctors for details regarding what medications she was taking. But while the decision brings to mind the recent trial of Doctor Conrad Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter due to negligence while treating the late Michael Jackson, L.A. Coroner Asst. Chief Ed Winter said that the two cases — Houston's and Jackson's — don't appear to be similar.
Houston was found unresponsive in her Beverly Hilton hotel room Saturday afternoon, one day before the Grammy Awards were held. "[P]rescription medication was recovered from the scene," Winter told People, adding: "We are trying to locate some of her doctors to get all possible medical records."
Meanwhile, preparations have begun for Houston's Saturday funeral in Newark, N.J., to be held at New Hope Baptist Church, according to NBC News. Her body has already been transported there.
