Westboro Baptist Church To Picket Sage Stallone's Funeral
Actor Sage Stallone's untimely death at the age of 36 over the weekend caused outpourings of both support and criticism toward his father, Sylvester Stallone, who had Sage Moonbood Stallone, his first child, with Sasha Czack, to whom he was married between the years of 1975 and 1985, but perhaps none of Stallone's critics have judged him as harshly as Westboro Baptist Church leader Fred Phelps and his daughter, Margie Phelps, who has taken to Twitter urging people to picket Sage's service due to the marriage history of his father, Stallone.
"Thrice-married rebel taught his son to mock God. #picketfuneral," Phelps tweeted on July 13, as soon as news of Sage's death hit headlines, reports the Huffington Post. Phelps, who adheres to the beliefs of the Calvinist Westboro Baptist Church, which has been infamous for its anti-gay protests at military funerals and the 1998 funeral of Matthew Shepard, as well as other extremist activities, didn't stop there. "Adulterous dad brought wrath of God on son," she followed up to her 5,600 Twitter followers, adding the two hashtags of "#woe" and "#BloodOnDadsHands" to her comparatively tame "#picket funeral."
Stallone recently spoke out publicly, pleading for compassion. "When a parent loses a child there is no greater pain," he said in a statement, according to HuffPo. "Therefore I am imploring people to respect my talented son's memory and feel compassion for his loving mother Sasha." Sage starred with his dad in the '90s films, Rocky V and Daylight.
Toxicology reports in the death of Sage Stallone are still pending after his autopsy was completed, confirms the L.A. Times. His funeral will be held on Saturday in Brentwood, Los Angeles. In lieu of flowers, Czack requests that donations be made to the organization, Autism Speaks, reports ETonline.com. Sage's younger brother, also from Stallone and Czack's marriage, Seargeoh, is autistic.
