In the TikTok, an excited Bassett opens his computer after a friend told him that he was “on SNL last night!” After seeing Mikey Day say, “my b–ch ex Gina is Joshua Bassett,” the “Common Sense” singer quickly closed his laptop and stared blankly into the camera as Kacey Musgraves “Happy & Sad” played in the background.

Rodrigo was probably more thrilled with the SNL shout-out since the sketch aired on her 18th birthday. She released the song last month, causing a social media frenzy when fans were quickly analyzing the lyrics and connecting references in the song to Bassett and his alleged girlfriend, Girl Meets World star Sabrina Carpenter.
A week after Rodrigo released “Drivers License,” Bassett released his own single called “Lie Lie Lie.” The following week say Carpenter releasing her new song, “Skin,” making direct responses to Rodrigo’s song with the line, “maybe blonde was the only rhyme.” Carpenter has denied that the song isn’t about the love triangle but fans still have loved to speculate.
