‘Virgin River’ Season 6 Confirmed Before The Premiere Of Season 5

Netflix’s romantic drama, Virgin River, has a promising future ahead with season six already confirmed before the beginning of the fifth season.

The show follows Alexandra Breckenridge’s character, Melinda “Mel” Monroe, as she leaves behind her old life to begin a new one in the small town of Virgin River. Other residents of the Northern California town also play a large part in giving the show the relatability that Netflix viewers can feel through them. It is based on Robyn Carr’s novel series of the same name.

“I think there’s so many shows now that are about sci-fi or thriller or crime. There’s a lot of darker, edgier and very sophisticated television which is amazing, but here’s a show that in a way is quite simple, is quite old-fashioned,” Martin Henderson, who plays Jack Sheridan, who is Mel’s love interest, told uInterview last year. “At its heart, it’s about this romance, but zooming out, it’s about this whole community and I think it speaks to something that we’re lacking. I think people are feeling more distant and separated from each other. The pandemic made that a huge problem and here’s this really lovely show that’s the opposite of that. People yearn for that, and it’s maybe nostalgic to as the way the world used to be.”

Other Netflix popular series renewals that have been announced are The Night Agent, Ginny & Georgia and the final season of You. The small number of series renewals comes as a comfort after Netflix has previously made many of its subscribers unhappy by canceling shows after only one season. Some fans have brought up a badly-aged tweet that Netflix posted in 2017.

Virgin River Season 5 premieres this fall and is set to answer all the questions that Season 4 left viewers with: Hope’s recovery, Doc’s diagnosis, the Paige situation and Brie and Brady’s relationship. There will also be new characters introduced in the upcoming season “that will mix things up a bit,” executive producer Richard Keith told Netflix Tudlum.
