Die-hard Buffy fans have something new to sink their teeth into. Sarah Michelle Gellar will play feuding identical twins in a new show, Ringer, premiering this fall on The CW. Geller, the former star of Buffy the Vampire Slayer sta, said that she kept the loyalty of her fans in mind while searching for and choosing her latest project.

“When you have a show that's iconic that people love, it's very hard to find what that next thing is,” Gellar said Thursday during a roundtable discussion with reporters and colleagues at Comic Con. “The best way to [pick a project] it is to take the break and really look for the project that is as exciting and is as rewarding as the experience that you had before."
However, Gellar made the point clear that her latest show is not merely a Buffy re-do. “I'm not trying to re-create Buffy and I'm not trying to top it. I'm trying to do something that the fans, who have been so good to me, will love,” she said. “I'm a television watcher and this is the kind of show that I would watch."

Gellar left Buffy after seven seasons in 2003, apparently to pursue her burgeoning movie career. The highly rated and critically acclaimed TV show, which has continued to have a "cult following," aired on The WB network, which became known as The CW in 2006. Ringer signals not only Gellar's return to television but to the network that made her a star. When asked if this was like coming home, the Emmy-winning actress, who is married to her I Know What You Did Last Summer co-star Freddie Prinze, Jr., 35, and has a one-year-old daughter, Charlotte, responded with "Oh my God! Yes!" to E! Online.
