In her new uInterview, Orange Is The New Black star Beth Dover shared how she used her comedy skills in her latest role as Molly Arden in Helen’s Dead.

The film focuses on a group of people who find a dead body at a dinner party, which her character attends to write an expose on.

“Basically, it’s sort of the aftermath of that,” Dover explained to uInterview founder Erik Meers. “So it’s like, what if a bunch of people went to a dinner party and found a dead body? But all of these people are slightly self-involved, maybe slightly unlikeable. And what happens when they find a dead body?”

Dover described the film as a “madcap adventure. It’s like sort of in the style of Clue, maybe.”

The actress shared that she was able to do some improv work with her castmates while on set, which was memorable for her.

“The best part of those group scenes and the dinner scenes is just in general with the movie in general, is getting to work with all these fantastic actors who are just super talented and great,” she said.

Dover praised her friend Brian Huskey, who also acted in the film.

“Brian Huskey’s a good friend of mine so it was great to get to work with him again, we’ve worked together a bunch on Children’s Hospital and Medical Police, and different comedy shows. So it was fun to get to work with him and get to hang out in Santa Fe.”

Dover specifically recalled how much she enjoyed spending time with the whole team during their free time.

“We were all hanging out in this bedroom, that’s where they kept the actors,” she recalled. “So we were just talking to everyone, hanging out. I was like lounging on the bed, people are over, we were just cracking each other up so that was I think probably my favorite part is just getting to hang out with all the actors.”

Dover is known for how she uses dark humor to make wry jokes.

“When things are dark and heavy and sad, sometimes that’s when I find the funniest,” she observed. “Sometimes I’m like I could do it, I might giggle throughout the whole thing.”

The actress shared that she enjoyed working with Tyrese Gibson and recalled humorous acting moments with him.

“It was fun getting to work with Tyrese too and just having him like you know pointing a gun at all of us and us freaking out,” she said. “That was fun… Getting to, you know, run and scream and freak out with everybody was the most fun.”
