Ben Affleck and Matt Damon sure do a lot together. They even campaign for the same Oscar—on opposite sides of the same page in the same magazine.

Jimmy Kimmel brandished a copy of the latest Variety on his show with their two 'For Your Consideration' ads for Best Actor gracing the front cover and inside flap, with Affleck's The Town ad taking the cover, and Damon's Hereafter ad appearing on the opposite side. "You know what we like to call that in our community: top, bottom," Affleck, 38, joked. Kimmel went on. "Those pictures look a little strangely meditative," he added. "It looks like you guys are waiting for the call at five o'clock in the morning to see if you're nominated."

"You and I compete against each other all the time," Affleck interjected. "The only competition I feel is from Jennifer," Kimmel disagreed, referring to Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner. Kimmel is right to be jealous: it seems that Garner runs the household with a capable hand. For example, Thanksgiving.

"Actually my wife cooks, I will be totally honest, she's a great cook. I don't even compare, I don't want to insult her by trying," Affleck said of the holiday. "It's out of consideration for her that I don't try. She's an incredible cook, she made the turkey." Garner also takes care of Christmas shopping. "It's a bit of a 50's thing I guess – because my wife is so capable and because I'm less so, she does a lot of that work and I kind of root her on. I'm encouraging," he told Ellen DeGeneres on upcoming Wednesday's show.

But Affleck is less assured at the marketplace. "It takes her as much energy and effort to buy like the 20 gifts we're going to buy other people, as it does to buy her gift. I spend the whole time, fretting about that and being nervous and hoping she likes that," he said. "And then I end up at like CVS on the 24th being like, 'Maybe she'd like a little Godzilla that goes around.'" –AMY LEE
