VH1 To Make TV Show Based On ‘The View’ From Star Jones’ Book ‘Satan’s Sisters’

VH1 is to produce Satan’s Sisters, a drama based on Star Jones‘ 2011 book of the same name based on her time on The View. Jones was one of the original hosts of The View co-hosting for nine seasons. When she left the show she claimed it was because her contract had not been renewed and she went on to have a highly publicized fight with Barbara Walter.

The book is fictional satire revolving a talk show called The Lunch Hour a popular daily talk show. The show will be similar to the book in that it will focus on female co-hosts of The Lunch Hour. While on screen the girls seem incredibly close-knit and loving, but backstage is a landscape of power struggles, personal challenges, love affairs, alliances and betrayals.

Jones said of the book, “I would be lying if I said Satan’s Sisters wasn’t influenced by the soap opera life of daytime TV, but it is a work of fiction. All the characters are inspired, in parts, by someone I’ve worked with, worked for, interviewed, was interviewed by and/or even prosecuted.”

Chris McCarthy, the general manager of VH1, said of the show, “Daytime TV now comments on and creates pop culture. Star Jones’ book is the perfect project for VH1 and our partners to bring to life.”

Jones will be executive producer with Josh Berman, Suzanne DePasse, Madison Jones, and Susan Levison. Amy and Wendy Engelberg will also produce in addition to adapting and writing the series.

Satan Sisters is to premiere in 2017.
