Five days after Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant died in a helicopter crash, his widow Vanessa Bryant has posted on Instagram.

She started by thanking people for their support and prayers and then went on to say how devastated she and her three other daughters, Natalia, Bianka and Capri are.

“My girls and I want to thank the millions of people who’ve shown support and love during this horrific time. Thank you for all the prayers. We definitely need them. We are completely devastated by the sudden loss of my adoring husband Kobe, – the amazing father of our children; and my beautiful, sweet Gianna- a loving, thoughtful, and wonderful daughter, and amazing sister to Natalia Bianka, and Capri.”

Bryant continued, commiserating with the families of the other seven victims of the crash.

“We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately.”

She went on to express how difficult it was for her and her daughters to go on without Kobe and Gianna, but that they persevered each day, believing that Kobe and Gianna were lighting the way for them.

“I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way,” she wrote.

She concluded by asking for “respect and privacy,” and providing links for people to support the other families affected by the tragedy as well as to further Kobe and Gianna’s legacy in youth sports.

On Wednesday, Vanessa changed her Instagram profile picture to one of the father and daughter embracing each other.
