Valerie Bertinelli seemed to confirm an embarrassing account by Matthew Perry that they shared a kiss one night while she was still married to Eddie Van Halen in a TikTok video.

Perry’s upcoming memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing has a section saying they “had a long, elaborate make-out session” one night after Van Halen had “enjoyed the fruits of the vine a little too hard.”

He said he had been crushing on Bertinelli for a while while they were co-starring on the 1990 CBS sitcom Sydney and claimed she returned his affection that night. She apparently shut him down after that night though, because there wasn’t any more making out down the road.

Perry also made it abundantly clear that the unconscious Van Halen was “just passed out, not 10 feet away from us.” It’s not exactly a classy thing to write, but Bertinelli took it all in stride with humor in her response.

In a video set to the Taylor Swift song “Anti-Hero,” Bertinelli waved at the camera and also wrote the caption: “Anyone misbehave in their 20’s and early 30’s? Are you mortified?”

The lyrics were also particularly chosen for comic effect, as Swift chimes in with “It’s me, hi, I’m the problem, it’s me.”

Bertinelli married Eddie Van Halen in 1981 and they had one son, Wolfgang Van Halen, in 1991. She filed for divorce from him in 2007, citing his cocaine addiction and refusal to quit smoking despite being diagnosed with oral cancer.

Perry also drew some heat for a couple of segments of his book where he made bizarre statements about Keanu Reeves. One quote, following a section where Perry was discussing the death of River Phoenix, then read, “Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves walks among us?”

After an online outcry around the sections, Perry said in a statement: “I’m actually a big fan of Keanu. I just chose a random name, my mistake.”
