Donald Trump‘s cognitive function has been questioned after a recent track record of mix-ups raised concerns.

In the past, Trump has repeatedly confused fellow Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley for Nancy Pelosi and President Joe Biden for former president Barack Obama.

Biden’s cognitive abilities have also raised concerns over his leadership of the United States. Paul Quirk, a political science professor at the University of British Columbia in Canada, said Trump’s cognitive failure is “more apparent.”

“From the standpoint of the campaign, Biden’s age should be less of an issue than Trump’s more apparent cognitive decline—displayed in slurred speech and gross, repeated errors in one campaign rally after another,” Quirk told Newsweek.

Despite Trump’s issues being more apparent, Quirk says Biden should still be a concern. The president may refuse to relinquish power if deemed incompetent to remain in office.

Both Trump and Biden have denied any cognitive issues. Trump claimed he “aced” a mental fitness test in January. Trump has also said his mix-ups were meant to be sarcastic jokes.

At a CPAC speech last weekend, Trump referred to his wife Melania as “Mercedes,” to the bewilderment of the audience.

Haley has repeatedly questioned whether Trump is suffering from dementia.
