The band A Tribe Called Quest have reunited for their last album which is to be released on Nov. 11. The band lost their co-founder Phife Dawg earlier this year after he died at the age of 45.
The band revealed their plans for an album on Facebook and Twitter via a handwritten note by member Q-Tip. This is their first album since 1998.
The band hadn’t done a live TV performance in 18 years until this year, when they appeared on the Tonight Show. According to Q-Tip, this performance is what inspired the upcoming album. The show inadvertently happened on the same day as the Paris bombing attacks, after which the group felt like they needed to go back to the studio.
Despite Dawg’s death in March, the rest of the members continued working on the record. They receive help from fellow rappers like Busta Rhymes and Consequence. Q-Tip shared that this will be their last album and will have a completely new sound.
