Track Palin, 28, was arrested Saturday and was charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree assault, and criminal mischief.
The court now describes a scene in which Track broke into his parents’ home and beat up his father, Todd Palin, 53, who was brandishing a gun but did not shoot. Apparently Track wanted to borrow his dad’s truck, but his dad knew his son had been drinking and taking pain medication, so instructed him not to come over.
“Track told him he was [going to] come anyway to beat his ass,” says an affidavit by Wasilla Police Officer Adam LaPointe. Todd allegedly greeted his son at the door holding a pistol, but Track broke a window and got in, and began beating his dad. According to court documents, Track pushed his father to the ground and hit him on the head repeatedly.
Sarah Palin called the police at 8:30 p.m. and said her son was “freaking out and was on some type of medication.” When the cops arrived, Todd and Sarah were fleeing in separate vehicles, and Todd was covered in blood. Officers confronted Track in the house, during which time he called his parents “peasants,” before leaving the house in handcuffs. He also claimed that his father tried to shoot him with his gun.
Track’s bail has been set at $5,000 and he remains in custody in Palmer, Alaska.
“Given the nature of actions addressed… by law enforcement and the charges involved, the Palins are unable to comment further,” said Todd and Sarah’s attorney John Tiemessen in a statement. “They ask that the family’s privacy is respected during this challenging situation just as others dealing with a struggling family member would also request.”
