Tori Spelling Says She Can’t Afford To Pay For Storage Units After Divorce Filing

In a recent episode of her Misspelling podcast, reality star Tori Spelling discussed her financial situation after filing for divorce from Dean McDermott

Spelling, who refers to herself as a “collector,” recorded the episode on April 11 live from the four storage units that housed her belongings. Her “long history of stuff” includes memories from her 18-year marriage and items accumulated until they had to vacate their mold-infested house a year ago. However, she could no longer afford the storage units due to financial constraints, prompting a necessary cleanout.

Spelling, the daughter of the late multimillionaire producer Aaron Spelling, explained that when a renter can no longer pay for a storage unit, the company typically locks up the items before considering them for auction. Fortunately, “A very kind human stopped it from going up for auction,” Spelling said, and assured, “I have friends helping me to get back into some of the units right now.”

Spelling added that iHeartRadio producer Amy Sugarman helped her regain access to two units; however, upon inspection, she discovered that the contents were primarily McDermott’s belongings.

Spelling shared, “I am so sad right now. I just wanted to get my memorabilia and my kids’ stuff, and this is nothing that we need. $971 for f—ing s—. Oh my God. Talk about getting screwed. Like, what the f—?”

Spelling credited McDermott for suggesting they clean them out earlier and admitted that initially, she could not let go of the possessions, feeling as if she were erasing a part of herself. However, given the drastic changes in her life since the split from McDermott, she now saw it as an opportunity for a fresh start.

Last month, Spelling filed for divorce from McDermott, who had previously announced their separation in a now-deleted Instagram post in June 2023. The couple shares five children.

Over the years, Spelling has been open about her financial challenges, including reports of credit card debt. In a past interview, she firmly confirmed her ability to pay her bills when questioned by a host.

As Spelling navigates this transition period and financial strain, she is focused on building a new chapter for herself and her children.
