Tom Brady Shares Quote About ‘False Friends’ After Gisele Bündchen’s Laments ‘Death’ Of Their ‘Dream’
Tom Brady, 45, has been very active on social media since his divorce from Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen. His activity has ranged from retirement announcements to thirst traps and, most recently, a cryptic Ralph Waldo Emerson quote that has left many wondering whether it was shared in reference to his ex-wife’s recent tell-all interview, which addressed their divorce.

The now-retired NFL star took to social media on Thursday, a day after the release of the supermodel’s interview with Vanity Fair, to reflect on the meaning of success. The cryptic Instagram story, which he shared with three red hearts, read:
“What is success? To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or esteemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!”
While many believe his sharing of the quote to be a response to his ex-wife’s comments, both Brady and Bündchen have repeatedly maintained that they are on good terms.
Last November, Brady opened up on his weekly podcast Let’s Go! that they have “a very amicable situation,” and Bündchen revealed in her latest interview that she bares no ill-will for her ex-husband, saying “I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever.”
