Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle announced their decision to “step back” from their royal duties not long after the birth of their son, Archie, earlier this month. Now, Thomas Markle, Meghan’s estranged father, is weighing in on their decision. In an interview with the U.K.’s Channel 5, Thomas said that he believes Meghan is “tossing away every young girl’s dream” and that “apparently $3 million and a 26-bedroom home isn’t enough.”

The couple’s efforts to become more “financially independent” involve them spending more time in North America and supporting themselves with multi-million dollar deals.

Thomas’s feelings toward his daughter and her husband became clearer to the public after the U.K paper Mail On Sunday published excerpts of a private letter between Meghan and himself. The couple have sued the paper for violation of privacy. Thomas has also admitted to staging paparazzi photographs of Meghan for money.
