The Weeknd will perform at the upcoming Super Bowl LV halftime show, NFL, Pepsi and Roc Nation announced Thursday.

“We all grow up watching the world’s biggest acts playing the Super Bowl and one can only dream of being in that position,” the star said. “I’m humbled, honored and ecstatic to be the center of that infamous stage this year.”

In the announcement, Roc Nation founder Jay-Z Carter spoke to his excitement about The Weeknd’s performance.

“The Weeknd has introduced a sound all his own. His soulful uniqueness has defined a new generation of greatness in music and artistry,” he said. “This is an extraordinary moment in time and the Pepsi Super Bowl LV Halftime Show is going to be an extraordinary experience with an extraordinary performer.”

Super Bowl LV will take place on February 7 at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida. The announcement did not clarify how the performance would stay COVID-safe, but the stadium itself has already been implementing social distancing, mandatory masks and a ban on tailgating.
