The Walking Dead picked up with Gareth (Andrew J. West) verbally abusing Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) while simultaneously dining on his foot. Laughing at the insults, Bob informs Gareth that he’s been bitten by a walker, so Gareth is eating zombie-infected meat.

The Walking Dead Recap

Back at the church, Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) has realized that Bob is missing, as well as Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride). Rick suspects that Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) might have something to do with it and begins to interrogate him. After getting badgered about the “You’ll Burn For This” message outside the church, Gabriel admits that when the walkers began to threaten the community, he disallowed anyone seeking refuge inside the church.

Upon learning about Bob’s infection, Gareth has him dropped off outside the church. Bob lets everyone know that he wasn’t with Daryl and Carol, and then finally tells the group that he had already been bitten. Since he waited so long to open up about it, there’s no chance of saving him from his fate. When Sasha questions him about keeping silent, he explains he didn’t want his life – or their relationship – to become about the end before it had to.

Now that everyone knows that the band of cannibals is at large, Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) wants to get out of there with Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and make haste to D.C. However, Rick isn’t letting anyone go with the van until they know where Daryl and Carol are and get rid of Gareth. Rick eventually asks Abraham to give him 12 hours, and in return he can take the van to DC with Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Tara (Alanna Masterson) with him.

As for Rick’s plan, knowing that the enemies are keeping a close eye on the church, he leads a group of the stronger members away, then doubles back to catch them in the act of trying to invade the church. It wasn’t long before he Abraham, Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Sasha had Gareth and the rest of his group. Without wasting too much time, they hacked the men to pieces. Gabriel was alarmed that such a violent act took place in a church, but Maggie informed him, “It’s just four walls and a roof.”

The following morning, everyone said farewell to Bob. Positive even to the end, Bob thanked Rick for his goodness and indulged in his and Sasha’s game of finding the good in the bad. However, before he could state the good, he died, soon to become a zombie. Tyreese saw the transformation begin to take place, snatched Sasha’s knife and put it through Bob’s head.

Without wasting too much time, Abraham, Maggie, Glenn and Tara hopped into the van for their trip to D.C. Rick and Tyreese (Chad L. Coleman), meanwhile, set to digging graves for the cannibals that they killed. Gabriel, haunted by his sins, at night tries to confide in MIchonne about his inner turmoil. The conversation is cut short, however, when she hears a sound in the distance. It’s Daryl. When Michonne asks him where Carol is, he turns towards the black night behind him and says, “Come on out.”
