The Walking Dead episode “The Calm Before” is the penultimate episode of season 9, and what occurred in this episode may give Game of Thrones a run for its money.

For a moment, viewer thought that Alpha, season 9’s antagonist, may have changed, but they were wrong.

Alpha (Samantha Morton) and her group, the whispers, slaughtered a number of characters, and put their heads on spikes as a warming.

Fans of the comic knew what to expect, and even they were surprised by last night’s casualties. Ten people were killed and among the dead included Tara Chamblers (Alanna Masterson), Enid (Katelyn Nacon), and Henry (Macsen Lintz).

The comic book version of this also included Rosita (Christian Serratos) and Ezekiel (Khary Payton), but luckily they’re alive for now.

This episode sets up a finale that will be all blood, and revenge from here on out. And with the first appearance of snow in the series, next’s weeks finale is going to be brutally cold.
