‘The Voice’ Results Recap: Michelle Chamuel Gets First Save; Amber Carrington, Sasha Allen Sent Home

The Voice’s finalists for season four are Michelle Chamuel, Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers (Zach and Colton Swon).

Before the saved contestants were announced Tuesday night, Fall Out Boy performed their single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” with Chamuel. A fun and boisterous performance, Chamuel melded well with the pop/rock group and helped get the audience pumped and excited for the show.

Next, season 3 runner-up Nicholas David from Team Cee Lo performed his newest single, “Say Goodbye.” With the unusual and soulful tone he’s known for, he gave a smooth and catchy performance. Audience members swayed side-to-side with their arms in the air as he performed, showing a connection with the song.

Following David’s performance, The Voice host Carson Daly announced that Chamuel, Usher’s only remaining contestant, was the first one saved and moving on to the finale next week.

After Chamuel’s save, season two runner-up and former Team Adam Levine contestant Tony Lucca performed his catchy new single “Never Gonna Let You Go.” After the energetic performance was through, Lucca announced that his first EP with Levine’s record label – 222 Records – is complete and will be released on July 16. He’ll also be joining Maroon 5 on tour this summer and fall.

Instead of duets and solos tonight, the remaining five contestants had a group performance. It seemed like a risky move, given their varied areas of musical expertise and skill. However, their distinct voices harmonized well as they performed Poison’s hit 80s classic “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” and each star shone on his/her solos.

After the performance, Daly announced that Blake Shelton’s contestant Danielle Bradbery was the second finalist.

The last of the visiting The Voice alums performed next. This time, it was Shelton’s former contestant Terry McDermott, who is known for his pitch-perfect rock performances. Tuesday night was no different. Singing his new single “Pictures,” McDermott gave an impassioned, technically flawless show. “That’s a great freakin’ song,” Shelton told him.

Finally, Daly announced the last save in the final two minutes of the show – The Swon Brothers, also from Team Shelton, were named the final artists moving on to the finale. In The Voice’s history, a duo has never made it nearly as far as the Swon Brothers have.

Unfortunately, this meant that Levine and Shakira’s only remaining contestants – Amber Carrington and Sasha Allen, respectively – were eliminated. While Shelton and Usher celebrated, Levine and Shakira exchanged a hand squeeze and sad looks.
