‘The Voice’ Recap: Matthew Schuler, Cole Vosbury, Will Champlin Close The Show On A High Note

The Voice aired its second week of live shows last night. The performances by Matthew Schuler of Team Christina Aguilera, Cole Vosbury of Team Blake Shelton and Will Champlin of Team Adam Levine stood out from the pack and gave the show a great ending.

Caroline Pennell from Cee Lo Green’s team ventured out of her typical indie genre and started off the night with a more folksy performance of Avicii's dance hit “Wake Me Up." It didn't completely fit her voice, but was nice to listen to.

Josh Logan, Aguilera’s save from last week, took on a challenge when he performed a fairly strong rendition Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror.”

James Wolpert, a former Apple employee on Team Adam, rocked out on The Killers' classic “Mr. Brightside.” His performance was out of the typical and excited Coach Adam, who shot his hands in the air with a wide smile.

Austin Jenckes of Team Blake performed “It’s A Great Day To Be Alive” by Travis Tritte and made the song his own in a fun performance.

Young powerhouse Jacquie Lee from Team Christina sang Jack White's version of the rock hit “Love Is Blindness” by U2. Aguilera gave Lee a standing ovation for her typically sultry yet powerful performance.

Ray Boudreaux, who Shelton saved last week, sang a touching rendition of John Legend’s “All Of Me.”

Raspy-voiced Kat Robichaud, who was Green’s save last week, performed “Sail” by Awolnation. Robichaud’s performance was unfortunately not heavy on the vocals, but still got both Green and Aguilera dancing along.

Jonny Gray of Team Cee Lo performed a warbled rendition Phil Collins’ “Another Day In Paradise.”

Tessanne Chin took on Emeli Sandé’s “My Kind Of Love.” Like last week, Chin proved that she is fierce competition. This is the second time she has performed a song by Sandé. Chin sang “Next To Me” in the battle rounds against Donna Allen.

Schuler sang yet another song that pushed his vocal abilities – Leonard Cohen’s emotional “Hallelujah.” The softer song choice truly showcased the young singer’s tremendous voice and range.

Vosbury stood out singing Miguel’s “Adorn.” He added his own gritty sound to the smooth song, delivering a impressive performance that drew Aguilera and Shelton to give him a standing ovation.

Champlin, who Levine saved in the final moments last week, also went back to a familiar band. For the night’s closing performance he sang Imagine Dragons’ “Demons” with his signature belt toward the end. The seasoned musician delivered a high note for the show to end on.

The Voice’s live eliminations air tonight at 9:00 p.m.
