After more than 50 years of touring, The Eagles announced dates for their final tour. The tour, entitled The Long Goodbye, will feature Steely Dan as the opening act and is scheduled to begin on September 7 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Only the first 13 concert dates have been announced with tickets set to go on sale today. According to a statement by the band, the tour will star Don Henley (lead vocals, drums), Joe Walsh (lead guitar, lead vocals, keyboard), Timothy B. Schmit (bass guitar, lead vocals), as well as former members Vince Gill (rhythm guitar, vocals) and Deacon Frey (rhythm guitar, vocals) performing “as many shows in each market as their audience demands.” The tour is expected to continue into 2025.
In a post on Instagram, the Eagles wrote, “Our long run has lasted far longer than any of us ever dreamed. But, everything has its time, and the time has come for us to close the circle.” The band continued, thanking its fans for their support and “embracing” the music. The Eagles concluded the announcement, saying, “This is our swan song, but the music goes on and on.”
