Ted Cruz attended the Astros World Series Parade on Monday, only to be heckled and assaulted by the Houston crowd.

After being booed and flipped off by crowd members, one attendee threw a White Claw can at the senator as he rode by on a military jeep.

Video footage of the incident shows the can hurdling towards Cruz and the senator deflecting it with an outstretched arm. The men accompanying Cruz begin pointing to the perpetrator in the crowd. In the video, the crowd can be heard booing loudly.

The Houston Police Department said Cruz was hit in the “chest/neck area” but didn’t need medical attention. Law enforcement arrested the man at the scene and released a statement saying he is in jail and potentially facing assault charges.

“As always I’m thankful for the Houston Police and Capitol Police for their quick action,” Cruz said. “I’m also thankful that the clown who threw his White Claw had a noodle for an arm.”

Twitter users responded humorously to the incident.

This comes just a few weeks after Cruz faced similar jeers from the crowd at an ALCS Astros game at Yankee Stadium. Videos showed the senator being booed and harassed throughout the game.

The following day, climate activists at the live showing of ABC’s The View protested Cruz’s appearance on the show.

After Monday’s incident, one user tweeted, “Ted Cruz is on a nationwide getting booed tour apparently.”
