Taylor Swift’s Songs Subject Of Psychology Course At Arizona State University, Students Rush To Join Waitlist

At Arizona State University, students can now take a psychology course to learn how Taylor Swift‘s lyrics relate to themes present in social psychology.

The course, Psychology of Taylor Swift – Advanced Topics of Social Psychology, will be offered in the fall semester. It will not focus on Swift herself but on advanced social psychology topics raised by her work, life, fans and romantic relationships by going through much of her discography.

This isn’t the first time courses about Swift have been taught at the university level.

Ghent University in Belgium, the University of Texas at Austin, New York University and Stanford have all had courses relating to the pop star, ranging from literature to social psychology focusing on her lyrics, discography and her potential impact on pop culture.

The new course comes off the back of Swift’s mega The Eras Tour.

The show spans over three hours, with a setlist of 44 songs divided into ten distinct acts that conceptually portray each of her albums. The tour has received acclaim from both critics and audiences. It has been described as one of the biggest cultural phenomenons of the 2020s, with some comparing The Eras Tour to Beatlemania in the 1960s.

Swift awarded her crew $55 million in bonuses.

Swift became the first living artist to have seven albums in the Top 40 of the Billboard 200. Her announcement of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has shown fans that she shows no signs of slowing down.

The class has a waitlist for the fall semester.
