Taylor Lautner, 31, is taking care of his mental health this month and called out his social media followers for commenting on his aged appearance.

The Twilight star recently posted a video on Instagram captioned, “Spread love. #mentalhealthawareness month.

He explained that negative comments accumulated on a social media post with a picture of him and his wife, Taylor Dome, at a recent press event for The Squeeze.

“It brought up old feelings and memories why I don’t look through comments, but I’m in a different place now, and I just felt compelled to share this with you,” thactor said before showing some comments on his appearance.

One comment posted, “Bro where is his hairline running off to? Looks like Ratatouille putting the years on him.”

Some people commented that the 31-year-old was “not aging well.”

Another said that he looked like “sh—.”

After the slideshow of negative comments, Lautner explained that if he had seen those comments in the past, it would have caused him to “go in a hole and not go outside,” avoiding press and interviews. He admitted that it would have affected him then because his “value was in the wrong things.”

“You find value where you put it, and if you put your value in what other people think of you, that’s how you’re going to feel,” he said.

Thankfully, he continued, he’s now in a better headspace, and although the comments bother him, they don’t make him question who he is.

“Remember where you put your value in life, and also, just be nice. It’s not that difficult. Let’s be nice to each other. Let’s spread love and positivity. It’s that simple. I love you guys, and I hope you have a great rest of your day,” Lautner concluded.

One of the commentators apologized after Lautner posted the video, “I think it’s good that you called me out. I should have expressed myself differently and I never meant to hurt you in any way. The reason I wrote this was really because it made me realize that I aged as well. Because I grew up with you seeing you in my TV. When I see actors I used to watch grow old it reminds me of my own age. I deeply apologize and will watch my words in the future. I know they can harm a lot. I wish you nothing but happiness.”

Lautner replied to her apology and thanked her for doing so, noting her bravery before saying, “I respect you and you are completely forgiven.”
