You may remember her from 8 Mile, that Eminem film in which she played Slim Shady's girlfriend. Well, actress Taryn Manning, 33, can now add a new — even less glamorous — role to her repertoire after she pulled a Lindsay Lohan on Thursday and attacked her companion in a hotel room. Manning attended court Friday on charges of misdemeanor assault and choking, after the Hustle & Flow actress punched, scratched and kicked her assistant Holliann Hartman, 23, before slamming her head into the wall and floor. "They had a late-night argument that turned into a bit of a physical altercation," explained Manning's attorney, Joseph Tacopina.
Said altercation took place at the Dream Downtown Hotel in New York, after the pair had spent the day promoting Manning's new music video. But the incident is isolated, claims Tacopina. "If you know about Taryn, and her track record and her background, she's not a petulant little kid. She's a 33-year-old, serious, well-accomplished actress, artist who is here promoting her song on Vh1,” said Tacopina. "There are some personal issues that they've had. Disagreements that friends who spend every waking moment together have on occasion," Tacopina admitted. "[But] she's part of the Manning family. She stays with the mother and Taryn in California.”
