Super Blood Moon To Be Visible Sunday, Sept. 27

A super blood moon will be visible tonight, on the night of Sept. 27 — likely a once in a lifetime sight.

A super blood moon — also known simply as a blood moon — occurs when a lunar eclipse falls at the same time as a ‘supermoon’ (a full moon that appears at its largest). The eclipse combined with the ‘supermoon’ gives the moon a reddish tint. “You’re basically seeing all of the sunrises and sunsets across the world, all at once, being reflected off the surface of the moon,” said Dr. Sarah Noble of NASA.

The blood moon is expected to be visible throughout North America, and while most are simply excited at the idea of getting a glimpse of a red moon, others worry that the blood moon signals a coming apocalypse. The blood moon comes on the tail end of a lunar tetrad — four lunar eclipses occurring six full moons apart. The lunar tetrad is, in some Christian faiths, a sign of the apocalypse.

“The coming four blood moons points to a world-shaking even that will happen between April 2014 and October 2015,” said Christian minister John Hagee, author of the book Four Blood Moons.

“My interpretation is that we have at least another 1,000 years. But I do believe these signs portend major changes, including a possible major war involving Israel and an economic collapse,” said El Shaddai Ministries’ Mark Blitz.
