USA premiered their new reality competition series, Summer Camp, last night. Sixteen adults headed in to a ‘summer camp’ and were separated into two teams the old fashioned way: girls versus boys. Every week the two teams will compete in a challenge, and the winning team will vote off one member of the losing team. The final team (gender) left standing will share the $250,000 prize.

The competition began with all the contestants arriving to ‘camp.’ Meaghan is wearing heels – not a good sign for the girls’ team. After retreating to his or her gender-specific cabins (the girls’ live in ‘fox’ and ‘owl’ cabins, the guys in ‘bear’ and ‘eagle’ cabins), it’s time for the first ‘social’ – where everybody mingles. Socials are, presumably, where all the juicy backstabbing and hooking up will happen as the season goes on.

For the first challenge, the teams compete in a fishing challenge. One team has to go around in rowboats and ‘fish’ for members of the other team who are floating in the water (armed only with water guns to defend themselves). The boys win, and so it is decided that one member of the girls’ team will be going home.

Each team votes for a team ‘counselor’ before the challenge. It is the counselor’s job, should the team lose a challenge, to pick two contestants to send to the opposite team. The winning team can save one of the contestants and send the other packing. This week, Brooke, a model, was chosen as counselor, and she put Meaghan and Lauren (who’s claim to fame seems to be that she was voted ‘biggest bitch’ in high school) on the chopping block.

At the guys’ camp, Lauren convinces the boys to eliminate Meaghan instead of her by promising to sabotage the girls’ team and make sure they lose a few challenges. (Oh. No. She. Didn’t.)

Summer Camp promises to be full of drama in the upcoming weeks, especially now that Lauren has already been revealed as a double crosser. The competition show airs Thursdays at 8 P.M.
