Twilight fans have been on quite the emotional roller coaster lately, what with the near-miss breakup between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, the interminable gaps between movies that have to be endured with the help of primetime substitutes like the CW's The Vampire Diaries, starring K-Stew and R-Patt imitations Nina Dobrev and Ian Sommerhalder, and now the countdown to the absolute and complete end of it all with the movie version of the final book Twlight: Breaking Dawn — Part 2!

Right? Hold up there, vampire fans. It looks like Stephenie Meyer, the creator and mastermind of the Twilight series, might just be teasing us with the same close call that Stewart and Pattinson did when they kinda-sorta almost broke up because Stewart kinda-sorta almost cheated. Turns out, Meyer said, there might be hope for the future.

"I had planned out where it would go for a couple more books, so I know exactly what would happen," said Meyer, reports E! Online. "There are other characters that I think would have a voice in those coming stories," Meyer continued, hinting at a future for Jacob, played by Taylor Lutner, little Renesmee and others.

Meyer went on to torture Twilight diehards with a bit of noncommittal thinking out loud. "Maybe someday I'll write it out, just for myself. We'll see. I'm not into permanents, so I wouldn't say no, absolutely. I'm not going to do it today. I don't know how I'm going to feel in five years."

While Meyer is figuring out how she is going to feel, as well as making a J.K. Rowling-esque transition from young fiction to adult fiction with The Host, which is expected to emerge as a film starring Diane Kruger, William Hurt and Saoirse Ronan on March 29, 2013, Pattinson and Stewart are busy being elated that their days as Edward and Bella, respectively, are over.

"I'm so happy that the story's told, you have no idea," Stewart said. "The fact that this thing is out and it's not weighing on us anymore, super excited about that. But I don't want it to sound like I'm excited just to be done with the experience."

Pattinson agreed with his tenuous ladylove. "A franchise is a Burger King or a Subway, it's not a movie…As an actor in it, you really, really feel like you have no control…You get trapped."

We'll just have to wait to see if there's a future for Irina, Jacob, Alice, Charlie, Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle, Renesmee or the others. In the meantime, get ready for the upcoming theater release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2, starring Stewart, Pattinson, Lautner, Maggie Grace, Dakota Fanning, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, Michael Sheen and Peter Facinelli, on November 16.
