The senior White House adviser behind immigration policies during the Trump administration, Stephen Miller, recently married the press secretary to Vice President Pence, Katie Waldman. Miller’s maternal uncle, David Glosser, donated to an organization that provides aid and assistance to refugees as a wedding gift to honor the newlyweds.

Miller and Waldman got married this past weekend in a ceremony at the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.

Glosser posted a link on Facebook to an online spoof wedding registry created by comedian Samantha Bee. The Website’s headline reads, “Stephen writes Trump’s border policies and Katie defends them. It’s a #MatchMadeInHate – a parody website.”

The website also includes a quote from Glosser himself. “I have watched with dismay and increasing horror as my nephew, an educated man who is well aware of his heritage, has become the architect of immigration policies that repudiate the very foundation of our family’s life in this country.”

Glosser told HuffPost on February 18,The advancement of policies which legitimize the use of racial, religious hatred and fear is a danger to everybody in our country. The Trump administration pushing hatred in pursuit of political power is the kind of moral rot exploited by authoritarian regimes.”

In another post on Facebook, Glosser wrote that he planned to donate to HIAS, a Jewish American nonprofit organization that provides humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees along with a photo of Miller and Waldman smiling happily.

“HIAS helped to rescue my family from Czarist oppression in the Russian Empire in 1906. Had our refugee forebears not been helped to emigrate to the USA, they and their children would have been murdered by the racial madness of Nazism; as were the 74 relatives who were shut out of America by race/religion based immigration exclusion act of 1925 enacted by the ‘American First’ populists of the day.”
