After the announcement that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Spotify podcast, Archetypes, will not be renewed for a second season, the head of podcast innovation and monetization at Spotify, Bill Simmons, has made a comment about the decision.

During the last episode of his podcast, The Ringer, he called Harry and Meghan “f—ing grifters.”

Harry and Meghan first agreed to create their podcast with Spotify back in 2020, which was a $20 million deal.

Simmons similarly had a deal with Spotify where he sold his podcast in 2020 for $196 million. He also now works for Spotify as a result of his deal.

During this episode, he discussed the news with his guest Joe House.

Simmons did not hold back, insulting the two several times. He told House that Harry had reached out to him looking for help “with a podcast idea.”

During the conversation, House commented that Simmons is known to do “a lot of business deals.” Simmons responded to him saying, “I do? I wish I’d been involved in the Meghan and Harry leave Spotify negotiation.”

He added, “The fucking grifters. That’s the podcast we should of launched with them. I gotta get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”

This is not the first time Simmons has spoken about Harry and Meghan on his podcast. In January 2022, he said, “Shoot this guy to the sun… I’m so tired of this guy. What does he bring to the table? He just whines about shit and keeps giving interviews. Who gives a shit? Who cares about your life? You weren’t even the favorite son.”

He continued on to say, “You live in fucking Montecito and you just sell documentaries and podcasts and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family and you just complain about them.”
