Spice Girls Reunite At London 2012 Closing Ceremony
The Spice Girls reunited for the first time since 2007 for the closing ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, singing their hits “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life” for delighted fans. Victoria Beckham (Posh), Geri Halliwell (Ginger), Emma Bunton (Baby), Melanie Brown (Scary) and Melanie Chisholm (Sporty) returned to their individual styles, albeit with modernized twists, to relive the era when the best-selling Girl Power group reigned.
Fashionista Beckham revealed her look on Twitter first during a fitting with designer Giles Deacon, wearing a black mini-dress that showed off her legs and ended with a train of ruffles. The feisty Halliwell incorporated the Union Jack into her red strapless dress, feminine Bunton spiced up her pink mini with sparkling shoulder pads, sporty Mel C opted for a white flared jumpsuit, and Mel B looked fierce in her cat print Zuhair Murad suit. “We did it!! I love u girls so much!!!! xxx vb,” tweeted Beckham, along with a photo of the group, after their performance.
The '90s quintet came together again earlier this year to announce Viva Forever, a forthcoming musical based on their songs that is set to premiere this fall.
