The South by Southwest 2013 Film Awards have been announced. Short Term 12, directed by Destin Cretton and starring Brie Larson (pictured), received the Grand Jury Winner for Narrative Feature, while Burma claimed the Special Jury Prize for Ensemble Cast. William and the Windmill, directed by Ben Nabors, was named the Grand Jury Winner for the top Documentary Feature.

As for the SXSW Special Awards, Hannah Fidell won the Chicken & Egg Narrative Woman Director Award for her work on Teacher, Geoff Marslett received the Louis Black ‘Lone Star’ Award for Loves her Gun, and Jim Hession nabbed the Karen Schmeer Film Editing Fellowship.

The awards were presented at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Tex. on Tuesday night. The music portion of the festival kicked off last night, and it has been rumored that Justin Timberlake may perform.—Hal Sundt
