Lucky magazine, interviewing Solange for her latest album, asked the singer about the incident that was captured by an elevator security camera. Downplaying the drama, Solange said, "What's important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that."
In the statement, put out by Solange, Jay Z and Beyonce roughly a week after the scuffle, the relatives claimed that they’d worked through the differences and taken responsibility for their respective parts in the conflict.
“As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,” the statement read. "But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it.”
The statement continued, “Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family."
Enduring for weeks after their joint statement was released were various theories about what sparked the conflict. Rumors ran the gamut – from Jay Z having an affair with Rachel Roy, to Solange using Jay Z to get friends into the after party and Solange being mad that Jay Z hasn’t done more for her music career.
