Smallville actress Allison Mack has been charged with sex trafficking linked with Keith Raniere‘s cult, NXIVM.
In an unsealed indictment, federal prosecutors said she worked as a slave “master” recruiting young women by telling them they were joining a female mentorship group. “Mack and other … masters recruited … slaves by telling them that they were joining a women-only organization that would empower them and eradicate purported weaknesses the NXIVM taught were common in women.” But the women were “exploited, both sexually and for their labor.”
Prosecutors said Mack required the women she recruited to engage in sexual activity with Raniere, who later paid her.
Raniere’s attorney claims the facts would show the women acted of their own accordance and that Raniere did nothing to “compel or pressure” them.

In the papers prosecutors said Raniere created a society within NXIVM called DOS. DOS translates to Dominant Over Submissive. The women involved had to submit incriminating information about their families, friends, naked photos and sign over assets to join.
Raniere was arrested in Mexico and is being held without bail.
Another Smallville actress, Kristin Kreuk, said she was involved with the cult but left five years ago. She claimed she has had “minimal contact” with current members and said she is “embarrassed” by her association with it.
