It all started when the raccoon was spotted in downtown St. Paul on Monday near the Town Square building. He was only a few stories up when maintenance workers tried to get it down on Tuesday, but the raccoon became scared and started to climb up the nearby UBS Tower.
Office workers of the building began to document the raccoon as he made an appearance on every floors’ windows. They also began to provide updates as it became visibly tired and hungry.
After coming to the conclusion that putting a firefighter over the side of the building would not only be unsafe for both the firefighter and raccoon, but also could frighten it and cause it to fall, animal control decided to put a trap on the roof.
By Wednesday morning, the raccoon made it to the roof and safely into the cage with cat food waiting for its arrival. Wildlife Management Services have decided to take it to a safe and undisclosed location.
Following its rescue, the internet applauded the raccoon for its treacherous journey to the top.
