It all started when the raccoon was spotted in downtown St. Paul on Monday near the Town Square building. He was only a few stories up when maintenance workers tried to get it down on Tuesday, but the raccoon became scared and started to climb up the nearby UBS Tower.
Office workers of the building began to document the raccoon as he made an appearance on every floors’ windows. They also began to provide updates as it became visibly tired and hungry.

After coming to the conclusion that putting a firefighter over the side of the building would not only be unsafe for both the firefighter and raccoon, but also could frighten it and cause it to fall, animal control decided to put a trap on the roof.
For those of you worried about #mprraccoon: I’ve talked to wildlife experts, who say getting close to raccoon may invite attack or prompt it to leap or fall from ledge. Fire officials say they can’t in good conscience risk a life putting a FF over the side of bldg for a raccoon.
