Maren Morris has filed for divorce from Ryan Hurd, her husband of five years.

The country singer cited “irreconcilable differences” in the filing on October 2. She and Hurd share a three-year-old son and have been separated since the beginning of the month.

Morris and Hurd met while co-writing Tim McGraw’s “Last Turn Home” in 2013.

They began dating in 2015 and got married in 2018. The musicians have collaborated several times, and even received a Grammy nomination for their duet “Chasing After You.” She described the making of their song “I Can’t Love You Any More” as a form of “couples therapy.”

“Ryan and I were bickering about something — I can’t even remember what, it was so stupid,” Morris told Billboard in 2022. “But we were kind of arguing that morning, and then going into the write, Ryan threw that title out and it just sort of lightened the mood: ‘I can’t love you any more than I do now.’ So the song ended up becoming couples therapy for us.”

Representatives for Morris and Hurd have not commented on the couple’s split.

Morris recently said she is leaving country music after fighting with several Nashville stars over her pro-LGBTQ stances on many political issues.
