Singer Lewis Capaldi has made a “most difficult decision” to cancel all his remaining tour dates to focus on adjusting himself after being diagnosed with Tourette’s.
The tour cancellation comes after his Glastonbury concert on June 24, where his voice broke in the middle of singing “Someone You Loved.” Concertgoers quickly came to his aide and sang his hit song with him. The Saturday event was also his first time returning from his three-week break to focus on his mental and physical health.
On Tuesday, Capaldi posted a message for his fans.
He wrote that he had hoped the three weeks away would help him but “the truth is [he] is still learning to adjust to the impact of [his] Tourette’s.” He also referred to the Glastonbury concert as an “obvious” sign that he needed more time to focus on getting his “mental and physical health in order.”
“I’m so incredibly sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year, but I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve,” the 26-year-old wrote.
The “Before You Go” singer has always been open about health and shared his official Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis in September 2022.
In February this year, he suffered a tic attack onstage during a performance of “Someone You Loved” in Frankfurt, Germany. Similar to the Glastonbury concert, fans also sang the song with him and saved the night.
“I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can,” he promised in his social media announcement.
