Shia LeBeouf Cut From Broadway Show, Citing Differences With Costar Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin and Shia LeBeouf’s creative differences have caused the younger actor to leave the production of Orphans on Broadway just weeks before previews.

LeBeouf had been rehearsing with Baldwin for only a week when producers announced that the Transformers star would be parting from the show, according to Page Six. Last night, LeBeouf corroborated the producer’s claims, posting email exchanges on Twitter that reference the two actors’ inability to work with one another.

“I’m too old for disagreeable situations. You’re one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. You are who you are. You two are incompatible,” wrote Orphans director Dan Sullivan in an email. “I should have known it. This one will haunt me. You tried to warn me. You said you were a different breed. I didn’t get it.” In another exchange LeBeouf posted on Twitter, he apologizes to Baldwin writing, “Alec, I’m sort for my part of a disagreeable situation.” In response, Baldwin wrote, “I don’t have an unkind word to say about you. You have my word.”

Despite LeBeouf’s posts, some are claiming that differences between the actors were not the root cause of his exiting the play. Lebeouf “was fired because he wasn’t good in the role,” a source told the New York Post. X-Men actor Ben Foster has already replaced LeBeouf as Treat, according to The New York Times. It will be his Broadway debut.

Regardless of the cause of LaBeouf’s untimely exit, Orphans, a play about orphaned brothers who kidnap a wealthy mobster who takes on the role of their father figure, will go on with Baldwin. Hopefully the 30 Rock actor will get along better with Foster than he did with LeBeouf – and that Post photographer he went off on last week.
