Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina) posted a video to X on Friday in which he accused The View hosts of “attacking” him for being the only black GOP senator.
“The ladies at The View are attacking me AGAIN—this time for being the only Black Republican in the Senate,” Scott wrote. “But what they’re really afraid of is our momentum—the GOP is on the move in my community! God Bless America.”
The response comes after Sunny Hostin said Scott would not help former President Donald Trump gain black voters if he is selected as his vice presidential running mate. Scott withdrew from the GOP primary last November and endorsed Trump in January. Scott is among a small group rumored to be Trump’s potential vice presidential short list.
“If anyone thinks that Tim Scott is going to bring over a bunch of black men, they really need to just get with it because Tim Scott is the only African American senator in the Republican Party for a reason,” Hostin stated on Friday.
Co-host and former Trump administration aide Alyssa Farah Griffin pointed out that the Democratic party also did not have many black lawmakers in the Senate. Hostin countered and said Democratic black lawmakers were in top positions in the Biden administration.
Scott stated a statistic about black voters in response. “Four out of 10 black men [want] to vote for the Republican Party,” he claimed. “What they’re afraid of is the monopoly is over.”
In January, Scott, a perennial bachelor, got engaged to Mindy Noce.
